Can we predict the future? Of course, not. Everything in the world is entirely deterministic but it is also very chaotic, making the future unpredictable. If you have the ability to predict the future, it means that every future action is predetermined in every way, and you won’t have free will which has the ability to make decisions that are not predetermined. However, personally, I believe that all human activity in the social system is determined by prior actions/causes, and in fact, it is very difficult to find an argument for free will. The 18th-century French philosopher Baron Holbach once said that nothing we do is actually free, he believes that everything that happens at this moment has a reason, that they are the result of a series of previous events, including our actions. Our actions are caused by greed and fear in the same way that a tornado is caused by the meeting of hot and cold air under the right conditions. This means that all human actions are only part of the physical world, governed by the laws of physics. By the same token, for those who believe in true free will, their actions are pre-determined because of the adoption of that belief. Even though the world is governed by the laws of physics, our brain will try to acquire a certain sense of free will because the conscious process will affect the non-conscious process in our brain. For example, we will decide where we want to stay, the partner we love, the career we like to work, etc. It is the chaos, that makes the future unpredictable.
